The Ignite campaign is BAM’s new fundraising campaign that will dramatically increase the impact of BAM’s visionary arts education programs. BAM Education—which already serves over 28,000 underserved students, teachers, and parents annually—will double in size in five years. I am proud to have acted as art director on this campaign, which utilized a fiery color palette along with graphical elements that called to mind scholastic charts and diagrams — evoking the mood of education and youth, but still appealing to the broad range of target donors. We called on celebrity power, asking artists to share who ignited the promise of art in them — then we opened the conversation through social media, allowing the public to share their story, and at the same time spread the word and raise money for the campaign.
Launched in December 2011, in it’s first month the campaign surpassed all goals — raising nearly ten times BAM’s previous year-end fundraising appeals — most of the giving coming in through social media.
